
Homemade Banana Pudding
Ingredients
- 3 cup milk
- 0.5 cup sugar
- 0.25 cup cornstarch
- 3 large egg yolks
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 4-5 ripe bananas, sliced
- 1 box (about 12 oz) vanilla wafers
- Pinch of salt
Steps
- In a saucepan, whisk sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
- Gradually whisk in milk over medium heat and cook until mixture thickens, stirring constantly.
- In a small bowl, whisk egg yolks. Slowly whisk in a ladle of hot pudding to temper.
- Pour tempered egg mixture back into the pot and cook 1–2 minutes more until very thick.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
- In a serving dish or individual glasses, layer vanilla wafers, banana slices, and pudding.
- Repeat layers, ending with pudding on top.
- Chill at least 2 hours before serving so layers set. Serve cold.
