Quick Bangers and Mash with Cabbage & Onion Gravy

Ingredients

  • 6 pork sausages (bangers)
  • 1 package premade mashed potatoes
  • 2 cup green cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cup beef or chicken broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Steps

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and cook sausages 10–12 minutes, turning until browned and cooked through. Remove and keep warm.
  2. In the same skillet add olive oil and cabbage. Cook 4–5 minutes until softened. Season lightly with salt and pepper and set aside.
  3. Add butter to the skillet, then sliced onion. Cook 6–8 minutes until soft and golden.
  4. Sprinkle flour over onions and stir 1 minute.
  5. Slowly whisk in broth and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer 3–4 minutes until gravy thickens. Season to taste.
  6. Heat premade mashed potatoes according to package instructions.
  7. Plate mashed potatoes, add sausages, spoon cabbage on the side, and pour onion gravy over the top.
  8. Garnish with parsley if desired and serve hot.
